Ace Music Producer and member of the defunct BLO, Lemmy Otu Jackson has given reasons why he is returning to Lagos after spending a long time in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom, his home State.
In an Online exclusive interview he granted BEATS, he revealed that he is quite aware that Lagos is the musical hub of Nigeria. In his words:” I had to leave (Lagos) because I wanted to come homewards. I left home since I was 15 years old, and dropping in Lagos, I went straight abroad and on coming back, I didn’t really reach home.
“I stayed in Lagos and made a lot of hits in music productions, but then, I still had the craving to get back to my people and see how they are, because a lot of people were born and I never saw them and they got big. So, when the contract came in to build a studio for the Akwa Ibom State Government, I did not hesitate to take up the deal. I came in and they gave me the opportunity to build the studio in Uyo and I found out that it was a beautiful place, away from the hustle and bustle life of Lagos and the terrible traffic jam.”
Continuing, he said: So, I decided to stay here and be coming to Lagos to do my business. That is why I came back to Uyo. I did not really want to settle down in Uyo, but circumstances arose and I found myself doing that. I also found out that there are lots of Talents here in Akwa Ibom and different kinds of music and I wanted to explore the talents and see how I can bring out a new variant of music out of the talents here. ”
On the number of artistes he has produced so far, he answered: “So far, I have recorded about 6 or7 Artistes that I want to bring out their disc this December and I’m going to send them out very soon. Some of them are already on the Internet and their music can be downloaded. That is why I’m here, but I’ll be back in Lagos soon.”
