Blind singers have some hope now as the Director General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, NCC, Dr. John Asein has picked interest in their matter.
Dr. Asein shared his ideas with BEATS Publishers, Ladi Ayodeji last week: “I have spoken with a few blind people and the leadership of the Nigerian Association of the Blind. I believe we can promote those of them that are gifted in music, and through them give a voice to the NAB and the blind community in Nigeria”.
This noble idea, according to the NCC boss, could be developed if the stakeholders in the music industry cooperate and promote the initiative. Asein is willing to give it a push. Talent abounds in the blind community for sure. Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles are two blind American musicians who have become global celebrities because of their musical talents.
There’re certainly hundreds of other Ray Charles and Stevie Wonders waiting to be discovered if we do something about it.
Mr. Asein’s initiative needs to be applauded and promoted, according to BEATS Publisher, who has promised to back the idea.
