Parents know that raising children, or even a child, is not a tea party, it’s a very challenging task.
From conception to birth, upbringing to adulthood, children go through different and very difficult processes and evolution before they finally become fully grown, independent adults. What I am sharing here comes from my own bitter-sweet experience, I hope you’d find them useful:
- Determine how many children you intended to have, including sexual preferences, which may not always turn out as expected. And then decide in advance what you’d do if your expectations are not met, both in the gender preferences and the number of kids.
- Love your kids equally, or at least show them impartial affection to stem sibling rivalry.
- Education is important, perhaps the most important outside of health care. Give all your children the quality education they need for balanced development of the spirit, soul, and body.
- Teach your children ethical morality. They should learn to love God, man, and even domestic animals. Above all, they should love each other and fear God.
- Children should be taught to be law-abiding to be good citizens and to be patriotic.
- Children should know the virtues of hard work and the dignity of labour at an early age.
- Children must learn to be ambitious, focused, and goal-oriented, that’s how they could become super-achievers.
- Bad times are part of life, so, children should be taught how to cope with adversity; and understand that they are inevitable in life’s development.
- No man is an island; every child should know that and learn to fellowship and relate with others.
- Children should learn to worship God from an early in life. This is the whole duty of man.
