Many people go to the gym or do road work and other forms of exercise, either as a matter of routine or as a means of shedding weight.
Sudden death sometimes occurs after a routine exercise. Below are some of the things to note before you embark on any routine:
- You need medical advise to determine the type of exercise to engage in. Is it to shed excess weight, or to deal with an injury. Is it to flatten your bloated tummy? These things need professional advice.
- Exercise requires professional supervision if you’re suffering from certain medical conditions. A professional footballer who is injured would need guidance from a physiotherapist when doing exercise to regain fitness.
- Certain categories of people like pregnant women, those of advanced age, or people with certain types of disabilities require professional guidance when doing exercise.
- Where special equipment is required, professionals must be the ones to handle that, to avoid complications.
- It’s not advisable to commence any routine after a meal or drink. Allow the food/drink to digest properly before you embark on any exercise.
- Check your blood pressure and blood sugar levels before you commence any exercise routine. They must be normal, otherwise. You risk complications.
- Road walks or running on busy roads is not advisable. You could be hit by vehicles.
- If an exercise routine does not produce the required result, see your doctor.
- Don’t eat or drink in between exercise.
- A daily exercise routine is good for you.
