1 Be sincere when in courtship with your future spouse. Let them know exactly who you are, what you can do, and everything about you from the onset and let them decide whether to go on with the relationship or back out.
2. What you won’t take when you are finally married, it’s better you reject it before you consummate the union, so to leave nothing to chance.
3 Don’t go all out to impress your partner with unrealistic expectations. It could lead to conflict in the future.
4 Resolve financial issues like who picks what bill because marriage is a shared responsibility.
5 Be open about your past so that you won’t have to live in perpetual fear of being exposed if your past is unpleasant.
6 Be truthful about your habits like drinking, smoking, etc. If you have any problems with narcotics, let them know so that you could both deal with them.
7 Both of you should discuss and agree on the degree of extended family involvement in your marital life because it could cause disagreement if not well managed.
8 Agree on the type of wedding you want.
9 If you have religious differences, it’s better to resolve it not take it for granted.
10 Learn to be tolerant of each other.
