The prize money Liverpool will earn after winning the 2021/22 FA Cup trophy has been revealed.
The FA Cup reached its conclusion on Saturday evening, with Liverpool crowned champions after beating Chelsea 6-5 in a penalty shootout in the final.
Cesar Azpilicueta and Mason Mount both missed from the spot, and Kostas Tsimikas scored the decisive penalty in a 6-5 victory after the match had ended in a 0-0 draw.
Sadio Mane had the chance to clinch the trophy for Liverpool after Azpilicueta’s effort hit the post, but he was denied by his Senegal teammate, Edouard Mendy.
However, according to the MARCA, Liverpool had already earned 1.6 million pounds, having beaten Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City in the semi-final.
By beating Chelsea at Wembley to win the FA Cup, Liverpool added a further 1.8m pounds to that sum.
That means, in all, Liverpool’s FA Cup prize money totals 3.4m pounds for the 2021/22 season.
Beyond prize money, Jurgen Klopp’s side would have brought in 6m pounds in matchday revenue during their cup run.
They will also earn around 650,000 pounds in television fees.
Therefore, the Reds will have earned around 10m pounds for their FA Cup victory over Chelsea in 2021/22.
