You have made it to Mid-Year with all the hurdles and roadblocks, that’s a great feat! But, what next? How about your goals for the year? How far are you on your goals and how far are you willing to go to have all your goals checked off for the rest of the year.I believe you do have some beautifully written out goals.
Almost everyone does. We all want to achieve something, big or small, no matter who we are or where we are from. Yet, we don’t always have the wherewithal to see things through especially when several efforts birth little or no result. We don’t always have the grit to get past the tough times and push through the pain to achieve our goals.
Often, we throw in that proverbial towel. We often quits and give up on those great goals we set. We say, things like “never again,” “not another moment” and “I’m done!” When you reach that tipping point, it’s always hard to go back and regain the former enthusiasm with which we started off from.
But, we aren’t all like that. Some of us are more adept at achieving our goals than others, learning to move past failure. I am personally convinced that each of us have our share of life’s challenges and pressures, so all you face on the journey to achieving those great goals aren’t anyway personal or peculiar to you. It is common to us all.
However, the only distinguishing factor between achievers and strugglers is Grit. I once said that we are often times called upon to rise above adverse circumstances, to overcome challenges, or to keep moving forward-regardless of roadblocks.
And our abilities to yield to this call of life is the major determining factor of all great goals we have. This is the simple definition of Grit- the passion, perseverance, and ability to look at the challenges of life and refuse to give up. It is what separate achievers from people that only try.Increasing your Grit level.
Two things here:Remain Passionate About The GoalsPassion sets the pace for grit. A gritty person maintains their persistence towards a goal by being passionate about what they’re trying to achieve. Passion is all about about falling in love and staying in love with a particular goal, thing or person, and finding a genuine reason for that cause.Having a passion for something is based upon finding interest and purpose in what you’re doing.
You need to find out why what you want to achieve matters to you. What are you trying to achieve? Who do you intend to impress? What lasting legacy do you want to create? As soon as you have answers to these questions, it becomes a lot easier to motivate yourself to put in the work.Surround Yourself With The Right PeopleWho are the top 5 influencers in your life? Do they make you feel drawn to your goals? Do they inspire and motivate you to be the best person who can achieve those goals? Do they support and encourage you to achieve your goals? Or, do they tell you that “it can’t be done”, “it’s not possible”, “you aren’t good enough”, “you will most likely fail”.If you feel emotionally drained by the energetic vampires in your life, you may want to detox your life and get rid of the relationships that aren’t serving you in a positive way.
The negative people, the naysayers, and the chronic complainers are like a dark cloud over your limitless potential to achieve your great goals. They hold you back and discourage you from even trying because they’re afraid that if you succeed, you’ll prove them wrong. You therefore need the courage to surround yourself with the right people and watch how your energy and enthusiasm to achieve your goals automatically blossom.“Partnership” is powerful. It is based on the simple adage that “two heads are better than one” — one on its own is simply not good enough.
Partnership invites commitment, eliminates pessimism, and encourages feelings of ownership, responsibility, and pride. It can help people to recognize problems clearly and enable them to find the best solutions. Remember, it all starts with YOU.
You are the main ingredient in the Achievers journey, no matter how the first half of the year has gone, you owe it to yourself to finish the year strong. Think about what impressions you want to make and how you want to show up at the end of the year, then become gritty about the goals that will bring those experience into reality.
