NOLLYWOOD MOVIE MAFIAS

Just like every other aspect of life, as it is happening in Polities, Sports, Academics, and other cycles, there also exist too, certain cliques in Nollywood which are regarded as mafias. They are seen as an unofficial opinion moulders, especially in the movie sector which prides itself on set of mafias, who determines what goes on in their domin. Their fraternity with certain groups depend on their tribal, financial and professional artistry. Today, we would be showcasing some of the consequentials in Nollywood. Here we go!.

The Ejiro Clique

The Ejiro clique is one of the pioneers of Nollywood. They decide on most of what happens in or around it. Hence their Surulere stations are usually jam-packed by top actors/actresses including up-coming ones, especially pretty ladies trying desperately to get close to them. The powerful clique is headed by Zeb Ejiro, massively called “The Sheik of Nollywood”. He was ably assisted by his younger brother, late Chico Ejiro. Both of them have been running things successfully over the years, forcing marketers and other cliques to bow for them always. The ability to churn out always large number of quality movies, gave them the advantage of turning unknown faces, especially pretty ladies into stars over night and grounding the few others who cross their path.

The Idumota Clique (Igbo Marketers)

Here, wealthy Igbo marketers or traders constitute the clique. Their financial contributions stand them out, most fared and respected in Nollywood. Infact, most producers and directors strive to be in their books always, which these trade merchants cum movie producers, usually have their ways in all productions, especially those they bank rolled. No wonder there have been cases of favoritisms and sex before roles. Their line-up includes Contech Movies CEO,  Emman Isikalu, Dozie Eruobi, Ojiofor Ezemaihe and Boniface Okafor.

The Upper Iwuka Road Clique

Here, Chief Ossy Okeke who owns Ossyaffason Productions is a wealthy Igbo marketer and arguably, the richest in the clique. He leads the pack among the young acts who underwent tutelage under him. These includes Gbenga and Daminam Moses, Emma Ugo, Alex Ugo and late Ndubuisi Okoh among others.

The Odunfa Clique

This clique has in his fold Yoruba top actors/actresses as members. They are well regarded and also very powerful in Nollywood, as far as the Yourba movies are concerned. The line-up include celebrated Taiwo Hassen massively called Ogogo in Nollywood, Jide Kosoko, a cross over actor of repute, Yinka Quadri and Abbey Lanre, the only celebrated Yoruba movie director, constitute the clique.
