This weekend matches thoroughly tore the pundits book as some of the games recorded shocking results, while some others live up to the expectations of fans across the top five leagues in Europe.

ENGLAND:
ARSENAL RETAIN TOP SPOT, AS MAN CITY FALTER AT ANFIELD
A 35th minute goal by Bukayo Saka againat Leeds at Elland Road helped Arsenal retain its top spot with 27 points from 10 games in the English Premier League. While Manchester City lost its unbeaten records as it falter 0-1 to Mo Salah’s 76st minutes goal to send the Kops celebrating a deserved win at Anfield. The win moved Liverpool to the 8th spot on 13 points from 9 matches, while the citizens maintained its second position on the log.
Earlier in the day, Mason Mount scored twice to hand Chelsea a 2-0 win over Aston Villa, as Man Utd were held to a goalless draw at old Trafford by Newcastle Utd with Marcus Rashford sending an injury-time header wide as they slipped three points off a top four place. And it ended 1-1 between southampton and westham drew at the Saint Mary’s stadium.

REAL MADRID DEFEAT BARCA TO REGAIN TOP SPOT, AS ATHLETICO MADRID CLAWED BACK TO TOP FOUR
Balon D’or leading candidate Karim Benzema led the line for host Real Madrid as they convincingly defeated a resurgent Barcelona 3-1 at Santiago Bernabeu stadium in the 250th El-Clasico, to reclaim top spot in the La Liga on 25 points from nine games.
In another battle for the top four, Athletico Madrid edged Athletic Bilbao 1-0 to go third on the log. While Real Betis continued their impressive form with a 1-0 win over Almeria to claim the 4th spot on the log.

OSIMHEN’S GOAL TAKES NAPOLI BACK TO TOP SPOT
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen scored his third goal in the Seria A this season against Bologna in a 3-2 win to send his team back to top of the table. He wasn’t the only Nigerian star to shine for his team over the weekend, as Ademola Lookman scored his fourth goal of the season in as many games, in Atalanta’s 2-1 victory over Sassuolo, as they dropped to the second spot on the table.
Meanwhile, AC Milan leapfrogged to third position with 1-2 win away to Verona. As Lazio drew 0-0 at home to Udinese to move above their opponents into fourth place.

BUNDESLIGA:
THE CINDERELLA RUN CONTINUES IN GERMANY
Union Berlin continued its fairytale of the season as it maintained its hold on the top spot of the Bundesliga with a 2-0 home win against Borussia Dortmund. Another highlight of the weekend matches saw defending champions Bayern Munich winning its fifth game of the season in a 5-0 victory over Freiburg, thus unseating their victims who were previously second placed on the log.

LIGUE 1:
While the troubles continued for Paris Saint-Germain off the field, with Kylian Mbappe expressing his desire to leave the club, PSG, are also facing charges of violating the UEFA’s financial fair play rules in the signing of Lionel Messi.
However, that won’t stop Brazilian star Neymar from giving PSG victory in Le Classique with the lone goal against Marseille.
Nigerian winger Moses Simon scored his fourth goal of the season for Nantes as they thrashed Brest in another Ligue 1 game, to take his side to 14th place on the table on 10 points.
