Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has dismissed concerns he is having an ankle problem following his team’s World Cup 2-0 victory over Mexico on Saturday.
Recall that Argentina defeated Mexico, thanks to second-half goals from Messi and Enzo Fernandez.
Messi trained with his Argentina teammates this week, but images appeared to show a swollen ankle causing concern on social media.
However, the 35-year-old revealed he had suffered a minor knock in the final minutes of Argentina’s 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia but insisted that he is fine because he trained normally with his teammates.
“I don’t know why they talk so much about my injury,” Messi told COPE.
“They talk about my ankle and the truth is I don’t have anything, I had nothing all week.
“In the last minute of the first game, I twisted my ankle, but afterwards, I trained normally. I trained normally, as well as the group, I never trained alone.”
