Popular singer and member of the defunct Plantashun Boyz, Blackface has come out once again on social media breathing fire and thunderstorm, as he is accusing Grammy awards winning duo of Whizkid and Burna Boy of theft of his intellectual properties.
It could be recalled that in 2016, Blackface accused Banky W and Wizkid of stealing his song titled ‘I Like The Way’ in making ‘Slow Whine’ and also accused them of sampling his song titled ‘Twist and Turn’ for ‘Ginger’, one of the tracks from Wizkid’s popular album ‘Made In Lagos’.
Blackface disclosed he is yet to hear from Banky W and Wizkid since the issue popped up in 2016. He further added that Wizkid has been avoiding Nigeria in order not to get served with a lawsuit.
He said: “I called out Wizkid and Banky for sampling my song ‘I Like The way’ which they changed to ‘Slow Whine’, without my permission.
“From that time, they have not reached out to me till today, in fact, I think that is the reason why Wizkid is not staying in Nigeria, he knows he will get served, so they are running up and down from Ghana to Benin Republic to Togo. We shall serve them eventually,” he said.
Not done, Blackface also accused Burna Boy of stealing his intellectual property in the form of the song ‘Ginger’. And the accusations have continued to attract sympathetic remarks, as well as, disparaging comments on the social media.
While some charged Burna Boy and Whizkid to meet Blackface and pay him compensation for using his songs, others were quick to equally accuse Blackface of blackmail. As they described his comments as the rantings of a frustrated singer.
