A group of Uruagu Nnewi Political Stakeholders and vibrant Community Leaders ably led by Hon.Mrs. Vero Nweke, Prince Vincent Mbonu and Hon. Evang. Okafoagu Emmanuel have stood up to begin the fight for the portion and betterment of Uruagu Community.
The Group is known as: Solution For The Betterment Of Uruagu. In an exclusive chat yesterday at her Shop, No. 14, Zone5, New Motor Sparparts Market Nkwo Nnewi, Hon. Mrs. Vero Nweke stated that: “The main reasons why we started this Forum is that as election is approaching, nobody is doing anything to show that we are going for election.
All we are saying is that we want the betterment of Uruagu people. We have been lagging behind politically. For instance,if not for my efforts and struggles, the Uruagu people would not have gotten the Local Government Chairmanship.
It is only when you are in Government that you will be able to gain something from them. If you are not there, you will not gain anything, they will push you aside, but because I’m there as an Uruagu person, the Government now requested that they want a Community in Nnewi that has not benefited as TC Chairman and it is Uruagu that has not gone for a long time, and because I was there,I was able to fight for it and got somebody from Uruagu.
And so many other things we are still fighting to get in Uruagu.” Asked to pray for the Group, she offered:”I’m thanking God for giving us the strength and the wisdom to start this Forum. Everything is in the hands of God. Without party there will be no Party. People must be merry as they join the Party. I also thank God for the likes of Bethrand Onwunzo IKB, Ikenna Ikejiofor, Jolly Jolly Noodles, Abraham Tyres and the rest. They are the people we always run to when we want Uruagu to be brighter. I pray for God’s mercy on every Uruagu indigene for whom this Forum has been established. I also thank God for our last meeting which turned out to be very massive.”
Speaking in the same vein, Hon. Evang.Okafoagu Emmanuel a Community Leader, who is the Supervisory Councillor in Charge of Agriculture in Nnewi North LGA and one of the Conveners said:”The Forum is all about drawing the attention of the Government and the Governor to the development of Uruagu Community, because all this while, if you go round Nnewi, you will see that it is only Uruagu that is underdeveloped, because those people that normally champion Nnewi Agenda always do it to the detriment of Uruagu. We have decided to come up with Uruagu Agenda. That is what the Solution for The Betterment Of Uruagu is all about.” On the pains and challenges facing Uruagu, he replied:”The major pains and challenges facing Uruagu is that of poor road network. The situation of the roads are deplorable especially as we approach the raining season. Also the issue of electricity and empowement of our youths, You can imagine that all this while, through subsequent Governments, Uruagu has not been able to produce a Commissioner and other relevant positions. It is recently after much crying that an Uruagu man was given TC Chairman. This is what we’ve been passing through and the reason we grouped ourselves together to form this Group and cry out with one voice. Also, our intention is to support the Government of our State by collectively voting for the Party in order to consolidate on the dividends of democracy. ” In conclusion, Prince Vin. Mbonu, a respected Community Leader and Stakeholder and Co- Convener has this to say:” Yes, it is our Forum called Solution For The Betterment Of Uruagu, because all this while Uruagu has been lagging behind both in development and Governmental intervention.
So we planned and set up this Forum in other to build Uruagu. So that our Community can measure up to others. The major issues facing us are roads, potable drinking water, street lights constant electricity and so on. Let Uruagu people understand our plan and join forces with us to achieve our goals.
I’m calling on every Uruagu indigene to come out as one and let’s open our eyes and go in one direction. Thank you.”
