Nigeria’s foremost players union, the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria, (PFAN), has joined millions of excited Nigerians in the celebration of Nigeria’s U20 male team, the Flying Eagles’ recent feats at the ongoing Africa U20 Championship in Egypt.
In the congratulatory message signed by its President Tijani Babangida, MON and released by Secretary-General Emmanuel Babayaro, MON, the players union expressed its happiness on the achievements of the boys handled by Ladan Bosso.
“We are happy that our boys have overcome the initial setback brought by losing the first game to Senegal. With their two wins over Egypt and Mozambique, the team has shown zeal, hunger and determination to go far in the tournament,” Babangida remarked.
He went on to admonish the team to be more determined and relentless in the primary target of picking a world cup ticket by defeating their next opponents, Uganda in the quarter-finals game slated for Friday, March 3, 2023.
“At this period of our uninspiring football fortunes, I want to urge our dear Flying Eagles to go all out against their next opponents and beat them to pick the much-desired world cup ticket.
” The technical crew and the boys understand that only a qualification for the world cup, would make Nigerians home and in diaspora, very happy at this period of our national life. PFAN and indeed, all Nigerians pray that they pick the world cup ticket, and of course, eventually win the Africa U20 Nations Cup, as the the icing on the cake,” the former Super Eagles and Ajax Amsterdam star, enthused.
