It was a momentous occasion for Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as Wizkid on Sunday the 21st of November 2021 when he bagged 3 Awards at the prestigious All Africa Music Award ( AFRIMA) 2021. In the event that held at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island,Lagos, Nigeria; Wizkid won: 1. Artist of the Year Award,2.Best Collaboration of the Year Award and 3.Song of the Year Award.
Nonetheless, a Malian Singer by name Iba One carted away 5 Awards making him the highest Award Winner. Iba One emerged as: 1. Winner of the Album of the Year, 2. Best Artiste Duo in African Pop,3. Best Artiste in African Inspirational, 4. Songwriter of the Year and 5. Best Male Artiste in Western Africa. A 13 year old Kenyan youngster, Shanah Manjeru emerged as the youngest Winner ever at the awards. Others that won included Flavour, Diamond, Platnumz and Fally Ipupa who jointly won Best Artiste in Africa Dance / Chereography. Best Female Artiste in Diaspora was won by Naomi Achu, Best Male Artiste in Northern Africa won by Dizzy Dros, Best Female Artiste in Northern Africa won by Manal Benchlika, Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa, won by ,Eddy Kenzo, Best Female Artiste in Central Africa won by Shan L ( Gabon), African Fan’s Favorite Fire Boy DML( Nigeria), Best African Duo Sauti Sol ( Kenya),Best Artiste Duo /Group in Africa R’n’B & Soul Nikita Kering (Kenya),Best African Rapper/ Lyricist Elow’n (Cote D’ Ivore).
The All Africa Music Award is an Annual Award Event. It was established by the International Committee of AFRIMA in collaboration with the African Union to reward and celebrate Musical Works, Talents and Creativity around the African continent, while promoting African Cultural Heritage. The first award took place on the 27th of December 2014.
