When death comes calling, there’s nothing anyone can do. In this month of November, we have had a big harvest of high profile deaths; Sani Dangote, Yinka Badejo, Tony Uranta, Pastor Obiora Ezekiel, Senator Gbenga Aluko and Baba Suwe, and still counting.
This is such a pity! Late Pastor Obiora Ezekiel was the founder of Christian Pentecostal Fellowship, CPM, a popular ministry based in Ajao Estate, Lagos. He was a leader of the Charismatic movement in Nigeria. Ezekiel had been sick for years, and his sight was even impaired until his death at 78 earlier this week. His wife, Mercy, who has been running the ministry for years, would simply continue the massive job of running one of the biggest churches in Lagos.
Sani Dangote, junior brother of Aliko, Africa’s richest man, died in the United State of an undisclosed Illness. Aliko lamented that their mother and other relatives watched helplessly in sorrow, as likeable Sani gave up the ghost. He was the Vice President of the Dangote Group, Nigeria’s largest private conglomerate.
Late Mrs Badejo, 70 at death, just two months ago, buried her late husband, Wilson Badejo, an erudite and respected two-time General Overseer of the
Four Square Gospel Church. Yinka Badejo’s sudden death was, therefore, a big shock.
Little was heard of Senator Aluko until he reportedly slumped and died in Abuja, the federal capital during the week at just 58.
Nollywood comedian, Babatunde Omidina had been hit by a strange illness, after his order with the NDLEA. He never regained his element after the sudden death of his wife, Omoladun, a funny comedian like him. His death is a big loss to the industry.
Just as we went to bed, Tony Uranta’s death was announced. Tony had a long bout with an undisclosed illness for years, until the analyst and controversial media man died few days ago.
