The nation is aghast at the murder of Dowen College, Lagos student, Sylvester Oromoni, by alleged cultists, but self-styled “investigative journalist”- turned blogger, Kemi Olunloyo simply took the other route by claiming that the kid died in the process of being initiated.
Kemi, daughter of former Governor of Oyo State Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, is a pharmacist who claimed to also be a journalist, influencer, blogger, etc. She’s known to revel in controversy, and is never afraid to stir the hornet’s nets.
However, her latest post on Oromoni has caused outrage across the social media space. She has reportedly been invited by the police for questioning over her wild allegation.
Meanwhile, her offensive post continues to generate angst in the social media while the aggrieved parents of the late boy are seeking justice for the murder of their child. The Lagos state government has closed down the Dowen College, while investigation is on-going to unravel the mystery surrounding the killing.
Olunloyo, meanwhile, has been unable to substantial her claim that the boy died while undergoing initiation into a cult. Though cultism is widespread in Nigeria’s tertiary institution, many are shocked that a high- brow secondary school like Dowen College could be a fertile ground for such evil to fester.
The implication of Miss Olunloyo’s “revelation” is that Sylvester died a culprit and should not be pitied. This is sad, because beyond the terse post, she didn’t provide further evidence to back up this claim.
Sadly, at the end of the day, she would weather this storm and continues her ridiculous “investigative journalism” as if nothing happened.
