Many people grope in the dark when trying to choose a career, but that ought not to be so. All you need to do is approach an expert; a career counselor who could give you proper advise.
A wrong career move could ruin your whole life. So, you have to make informed choices. Here are some things to consider when making your career decisions:
First thing to consider: do you like the vocation? It’s important you love what you want to do for a living, otherwise, it becomes a boring, dull routine that soon put you off. Do a job you love so much, you could it for free.
Are you naturally competent and capable on the job? It’s not enough to like to be medical doctor; you should know – Math, Biology, Chemistry, etc? It’s a lot easier to study a course of study in which you’ve a natural competence, so that you don’t have to struggle through it.
Does the job offer bright career prospect? Is there a future for you on the job? Does it have great opportunities to move ahead in life? That’s something to consider.
In terms of adaption to new technology; can you cope with changes in the way the job could respond to new innovations? Some people get blown away from the rapid changes that technology brings on a job.
Do you have the resources to study the course? Can you cope with the implications of the financial demands of the course of study leading to final qualification or certification for the job?
In this business, can you be a future owner? That’s very important because the dream of everyone is to one their business. Are you sure, you could raise capital to fund it, or substantial part of the stake, to guarantee ownership or part ownership?
Is the business the type you could pass on to your children when you’re old?
These are some things to consider.
