Napoli FC and Super Eagle striker, Victor Osimhen (22), is the BEATS Nigerian Footballer of the year 2021, for his superb form for club and country in the year under review.
Osimhen’s goal tally helped Nigeria qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON and his 22 goals for Napoli in all competitions so far, have put the club in contention for the Scudetto this term.
He was signed from Lille just last season, but the young striker has quietly established himself as the key player at the Diego Amando Maradona stadium. His selection in the Nigerian team is automatic, given his work rate, pace and power. Despite occasional injuries, Osimhen has been very consistent and is a nightmare for opposing teams.
Always eager to play for Nigeria, the player, who grew out of the slums of Ketu, a Lagos suburb, hawking sachet water for years back, has transformed into one of the deadliest strikers in Africa and Europe.
For his exploits for club and country in the year 2021, the BEATS Board of Editors decided to honour him as the Nigerian player of the Year.
