Achieving any goal in life isn’t just about setting clearly defined goals and wanting them badly enough. You’ve got to deploy the right strategies to actually achieve them.
The weakness of many people in life is not always the lack of goals. Most people have beautiful goals especially as the new year commences. We are always inspired to draw a new plan for our lives and businesses in a bit to chart a new course for our lives. However, not all written goals survive the writing stage. To merely highlight what you want without a proper “how-to” get it done only leaves you on a spot.
Great goals without great strategies to making them a reality is the reason behind the failure of most people.
When it comes to goal achievement, these proven principles are secrets behind the success of high achievers in all works of life:
1. Your subconscious must expect it.
Most limitations we experience when it comes to achieving goals are due to our inability to move the goals from the pages of book to the mind. Merely writing down a goal does not bring down the achievement of the goal to us. There must be an active involvement of the subconscious mind in the goal achievement process.
The mind must absorb its reality if it must be achieved. The subconscious mind is subjective. It does not think or reason independently, it merely obeys the commands it receives from the conscious mind. The conscious efforts invested in writing out your great goals therefore empowers the subconscious mind to absorb it and releases its power to meditate on its posibility. A successful completion of this process moves the goals from just been written on books to sticking on your mind, and put every law of nature to work in bringing the goals closer to you.
The moment your goals get registered strongly on your mind, the subconscious part of the mind goes hunting for it. Larger part of the success of any man is attributed to the activity of his subconscious
2. Your behavior must match it.
It becomes difficult to become what you behave against. The law of attraction works like magic in life; you gravitate towards what you intentionally behave like. It is therefore imperative that our behavior matches up to the level of the goal we desire to achieve. The type of person you are affects the type of goal you achieve.
James Allen once said, that people are anxious to improve their circumstances but are unwilling to improve themselves: they therefore remain bound.
Some goals will not be achieved until you grow up to the level of the goals, and behave like it.Behaving provokes becoming. We have to know what our goals are, and we also have to know the specific behaviors that support those goals.
One of the biggest prices to pay in the pursuit of goal achievement is to know what to become to qualify for the level of the goal. It is simple, what you have today is a result of who you are. To get a better result, dare to improve on yourself and the result comes to you without delay.
What goal are you finding difficult to achieve?
Create a mental picture for it and start acting it out. As you behave it, you gradually become it.
3. Your environment must facilitate it.
You and your environment are two parts of the same whole. To change one is to change the other.If certain goals require that you grow to achieve them, then your environment is very vital. Are you in a growth enabling environment?
Our environment influences our actions and behavior in so many unspoken ways. Imagine trying to be the best in your field. An unconducive environment is one where you’re constantly surrounded by mediocres. People who are just satisfied with whatever life throws at them. People who do not value excellence or ready to go an extra mile to get something great done. An environment where you watch people abuse and discourage hardwork and standard values. That’s just too much negative stimuli that you’re flooded with every day. A better way is to change your environment into one that support the kind of goal you want to achieve.
An active involvement of the subconscious mind with a commensurate positive behavior empower goal achievement, but the right environment drastically increases our odds of success.
You cannot expect significant growth if you’re continually surrounded by low-level energy group of people.
Your environment controls your growth and your growth affects your goals.
How to create an enhancing environment for the achievement of your goal:
A. Make the best of your existing environment:
The first step to take is to make the best of your existing environment. Here you don’t have to change your environment but learn to interact with it in a way that fits your goals. This means learning more about your environment to see how it can support the goals you want to achieve, and learning to leverage it. The goal is to limit negative influence and maximize positive ones. Breaking away from the environment you are used to can be very tidious, so the first thing to do is not to get bordered about leaving especially when you’ve got no option than to remain. But you can be strategic enough in creating a befiting environment from the existing one.
Change/Tweak your environment:
Here, you want to change your environment to be one that is completely positive, that constantly reminds you of your goals and supports the same cause. An environment where it becomes easy to act on your goals each day – simply showing up in this environment will result in you moving forward in it. This could mean moving to a completely new place where there is an established ecosystem that supports your set goals. Please note that this second step might require a large amount of physical and financial resources, and until this is available or possible, dare to maintain the step adviced aforetime. That is, take it gradually. Create a positive environment from where you are till you are capable of moving to a completely different and enhancing one. But make it a conscious and deliberate effort to plan your exit!
