Manchester United star, Jesse Lingard, is set to join the club’s Premier League rivals, Newcastle United, on loan.
A football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, said Newcastle is negotiating with Man United and Lingard’s representatives in a bid to sign the England international this month.
“Newcastle will push again on Jesse Lingard’s deal in the next hours. Magpies board working hard to sign Jesse at least until the end of the season, then he’ll become a free agent,” Romano wrote on Twitter on Monday.
“Negotiations are ongoing with both Manchester United and Lingard representatives.”
Meanwhile, Manchester City is close to completing its first signing of the January transfer window.
According to ESPN, Manchester City are closing in on the signing of River Plate striker, Julian Alvarez.
Pep Guardiola’s side has seen off competition from Milan for the 21-year-old and looks set to bring him onto their books for around £20 million ($27m).
Alvarez won’t become an official Man City player until the summer of 2022, with the club open to loaning him back to River Plate for the next six months of the current season.
