The on-going programme of vigorous campaign against hipatitis in Taraba State received a boost on Wednesday with the donation of drugs worth over forty million naira.
The drugs were donated by Hipatitis Alliance Worldwide in Jalingo.
At a short presentation ceremony in Government House, Jalingo, Prince Ada, president of the group, said the grip was motivated by the stories of the immense efforts the Ishaku administration had committed to the treatment of the ailment in Taraba State.
Prince Ada hoped the donation would go a long way in supporting the relentless war which the administration is currently against hipatitis.
He praised the Ishaku administration for the relentless and methodical approach to the fight against the dreaded disease and noted that his achievements had received global attention and earned him commendation in many countries and among donor agencies.
He said Ishaku’s was the only administrstion in the country that was fighting hipatitis and called on international donor agencies and philanthropists across the globe to support these efforts.
Receiving the drugs, Governor Ishaku expressed appreciation and noted that his administration took the bold step against hipatitis because it had become a major source of death in Taraba State.
He said he was appreciative of the global acknowledgement of the achievements of his effort against hipatitis and felt encouraged to do more.
He thanked Hipatitis Grand Alliance for donating the drugs and promised that they would be applied judiciously.
He also com tvmended Roche and other donor agencies that have assisted in the fight against hipatitis, adding that their efforts have not been in vain.
