AREGBE’S DEFEAT
It’s naïve for anyone to think that Rauf Aregbesola would be able to install his candidate Moshood Adeoti on Osun State, by defeating the incumbent Governor, Gboyega Oyetola in the just concluded APC Governorship primaries.
Governors in this dispensation traditionally control their parties’ machinery, no incumbent has ever lost a primary to a rival, except in the unique cast of Lagos State when the then Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was defeated by forces mobilized by his Godfather, BolaTinubu. Of course, Ambode never controlled the levers of power in Lagos State. So, it was easy to remove him.
I think Aregbe didn’t calculate well, or he obviously overestimated his own clout. In politics, you have to calculate with precision, if you’re going into such battles or get humiliated.
FUEL CRISIS AND OTHER ISSUES
Fuel Crisis has always been a major problem in Nigeria, regardless of which government is in power.
No government, military or civilian has been able to provide a lasting solution to this crisis.
There’s a myriad of other crises we’re facing in virtually all areas of our national life.
In the health, education, security, family, social, religious, ethnic sectors, serious crises abound and no government has succeeded in fixing any one of these problems.
One begins to ask: Can Nigeria be saved?
COVID AND THE HEATWAVE
The global Pandemic, Covid-19, and its variants seem to fester in temperature zones and some topical areas of Asia and Latin America.
God has been good to Africa, and Nigeria in particular. Despite our poor record of observing the Covid protocol, we’re still surviving this terrible pandemic. We give God the praise.
RAIL ATTACKS
Nigeria is the only country where criminals sabotage rail tracks and destroy other facilities that make rail transport work.
For God’s sake let’s allow our country to develop. The rail transport option remains the best for the common folks. We should make it safe.
