For the second time in one week, the Shephered Suprintendent of the Household of God Church, Rev Chris Okotie, publicly displayed his love and admiration for juju music superstar, Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, who clocked 80 last Sunday, April 3, 2022.
Rev. Okotie had earlier issued a press release which is still trending on social media, wherein he paid glowing tribute to Chief Obey. He, again hailed the music icon last Sunday in the Household of God Church, same day as the birthday, and led a prayer for the celebrant, shortly before close of service.
The Chief was at his Decross Gospel mission about the same time, at Agege, Lagos where a thanksgiving service was being held in his honour.
After praying for the musician, Rev. Okotie recalled that in the early days of his church, he used to patronize Obey’s Decross musical instrument rental outfit when Household hadn’t yet owned instruments. He expressed appreciation for the commander’s support and cooperation in those early days.
After the congregational prayer for Obey’s health, long life and prosperity, the rousing worship service came to a close. This is a rare honour from Rev. Okotie to a music legend, and one of his celebrated contemporaries in show business before he became the Pastor of the Household of God church.
