Oluwajuwonlo ObasIoro is a Lagos-based comedian, MC, and actor, popularly known as Obajokes. The slim, fast-talking comedian left a teaching job to pursue a career in show business after he realized that his destiny and life goals could only be actualized under the klieg lights.
‘I know I have the talent because jokes come naturally to me,’ according to the thespian.
‘So, I decided to take a plunge; I resigned from my job and began looking for ways to expose my talents. I have done interviews on Stv, LTV, in newspapers, and in other media outlets. I am enjoying the business.’
Obajokes cause ripples when he appeares in pampas in public. What is this all about?
‘It is a gimmick, a kind of publicity stunt. I know men don’t wear pampas, but it’s just to gain some attention and it works,’ Obajokes explained.
He believes that you have to create a niche to succeed in the industry and the pampas man is just to create a stir.
Much more than that, Obajokes is also a gifted MC. He is a popular compeer and, his ability to charge the party atmosphere has earned him some following in Lagos.
He said, with the grace of God, he would soon broaden his reach as his fan base grows larger.
