An Upper Area Court in Ilorin on Wednesday dissolved the nine-year-old marriage between Muritala Salahudeen and Sekinat over domestic violence.
In her petition, Sekinat, accused Salahudeen of violence and refusal to provide for their two children.
Delivering a ruling, the Judge, Moshood Ajibade said that Salahudeen accused Sekinat of cheating on him.
He therefore dissolved the union and gave custody of the the girl to Salahudeen and the boy to Sekinat.
The judge also ordered Salahudeen to pay N5,000 monthly to Sekinat for the child in her custody and also pay N10,000 for his school fees per term.
“He borrows money from me and refuses to pay.
”When I asked for the money I loaned him he beats me up.
“My Lord I am comfortable that the court gave custody of our daughter to him.
”He has another wife. I want custody of my two children,” she said.
Responding, Salahudeen, denied beating Sekinat.
He agreed to the divorce.
