..calls on FG, well-meaning Nigerians for financial assistance

The President of Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Comrade Tijani Babangida MON, in company of the PFAN Deputy General Secretary, Comrade Edema Fuludu, Tuesday, 25th of October, 2022, paid a support visit to one of its, founding members and football icon, Chief Henry Nwosu MON, at the hospital in Asaba, Delta state.
Recall during the week news filtered in that the former Green Eagles captain and member of the the 1980 African Nations Cup winning team was down with an unknown ailment.
In a quick response, via a press statement signed by the General Secretary of PFAN, Comrade Emmanuel Babayaro, MON, it was disclosed that the PFAN President convened an emergency meeting with the PFAN BOT and NAC and the outcome was the immediate support visit.
The PFAN President Tijani Babangida MON made a token as financial support from PFAN to help augment the pilling medical bills.
In the statement, PFAN President regretted the unfortunate circumstance the players union found itself. A situation that would have been avoided, if only the last NFF Executive Council had done the right thing by signing the already jointly agreed (by the NFF and PFAN) CBA into law .
He also restated that the foremost player’s union has instituted mechanisms to take care of its own without running cup in hand and begging for handouts at every unfortunate situation. The CBA is the main catalyst of that mechanism.
Adding that the union hopes the new NFF Executive Board headed by the President Ibrahim Gusau will do the right thing .
In the meantime, the PFAN President prayed for the quick recovery of Chief Henry Nwosu, while calling on the Honourable Minister for sports, Chief Sunday Dare, the NFF President, the Governor of Imo state and well meaning Nigerians to quickly come to the aid of the ailing former star player of ACB, NNB and the Green Eagles.
The PFAN President thanked the Delta FA and other donors for their blessed support for the ailing icon.
