The Peter Obi/ Datti Solidarity Movement World Wide, Anambra State Chapter, led by Rev. Dr. Aloysius Agu on Saturday the 12th of November 2022, literally shut down the Industrial City of Nnewi when they embarked on a 5 Million Man March round the City.

The rally took off by 11:00am from the Muster Point at the Palace of the Igwe of Nnewi along Okigwe/ Oba Road and moved all the way through the Igwe Orizu Rd, down to Izuchukwu Junction. Passing through Nnobi Rd, they moved down to Ibeto Avenue and burst out at Old Onitsha Rd from there they entered the Nkwo Nnewi Main Market through Nwagbala Rd. As soon as they entered the Market, the Market went into frenzy as Traders left their Businesses and joined the convoy of vehicles chanting Obi!!!, Obi !!!!Obi!!!!! Slogan.

The Solidarity Movement Train moved round the Market, causing a great excitement and creating the kind of awareness never witnessed before in the history of the Market. The Rally gathered a great deal of momentum in the Market before proceeding further down to Hundred foot Road, down to Round About, before crisscrossing Eme Court Road down to Traffic Light and back to The Igwe’s Palace by 6:00pm. In all, it was a most successful and impactful rally that Nnewi people will not forget in a hurry.

It was a huge carnival that shook the Industrial and Commercial hub of the South East to its very foundation. Local Government Areas that turned up for the rally were: Nnewi North and South, Oyi, Ihiala, Aguata, Awka North and South, Anaocha, Idemili North and South,Dunukofia, Orumba North and South,Njikoka, Ekwusigo, Onitsha North and South, Anambra West and East Ayemelu, and Ogbaru. Addressing the Press after the rally, the Anambra State Coordinator of the Peter Obi/ Datti Solidarity Movement,Rev. Dr. Aloysius Agu, stated that the Movement is not restricted to Labour Party alone. In his words: “”In this Movement, we have Labour Party, we have PDP, we have APGA,we have APC and all the other Political Parties.

These are the people who have said that Peter Obi must win the Presidential election, irrespective of Political Party affiliation. They are very sure of Peter Obi.””. On his message to the people of Anambra State, he replied: “” My message to the people of Anambra State is
very simple. We should all rally round and vote for Peter Obi.

We should not vote for Obi because he is from Anambra State,we should vote for him because he is the most competent among all the Presidential Candidates.””. Expressing his gratitude to the people who made the sacrifice to ensure that the event was a success, Dr. Agu said: “”I appreciate everyone, especially the members of the Peter Obi/ Datti Solidarity Movement. We started this Movement out of nothing. We sponsored it on our own. We rallied round. Everybody contributed in one way or the other, financially, morally physically and otherwise and in no small measures. Anambra people are wonderful as we can see. Everywhere we went, they are clamouring for Peter Obi.They are clamouring for a New Nigeria and we are happy about it. This project is a private project financed by the people of Anambra State Chapter of Peter Obi/ Datti Solidarity Movement. Nobody, whether from Abuja or Lagos or Awka has given us one Naira and it was done successfully. We printed everything that needed to be printed. We financed the Public Address System, the Jingles and everything. So we thank God that today, it has become a reality. We pray that God will continue to help us until Peter Obi takes over Aso Rock for a new and better Nigeria. “”. Also Speaking, the National/ International Public Relations Officer, Pst. Herbert Sopulu, pointed out that he came all the way from Lagos to observe and witness the rally and that he is very impressed by the turnout and success of the event. He re-emphasized that the Movement is for all. He therefore pleaded with all the people of Anambra State and the South East as a whole, to make sure that Peter Obi is installed as the next President of Nigeria. In his Contribution, the State Treasurer opined that the Peter Obi/ Datti Solidarity Movement has come to stay, saying that the time has come for the people to take back the country. He pointed out that the cost of living has gone so high that the masses are in a serious problem and that nothing is working presently in the country.

He expressed the hope that with a prudent Manager of Men and Materials like Peter Obi, things will definitely turnaround. He therefore called on all and sundry to throw their weight behind him in the forthcoming Presidential election, because, according to him, a vote for Peter Obi is a vote for victory and freedom from poverty.
