In recent times, Nigerian music stars have reportedly been topping music charts across the world and of course, posting very impressive numbers on streaming platforms.
And yes, the figures they supposedly record on these streaming platforms are indeed, minds boggling. Many music aficionados have repeatedly expressed their concerns, as they argued that the figures are unreal. They argued too, that the Nigerian artistes have been faking it, by using illegal means.
Streaming farms have become the tools used by these artistes to post unreal streaming figures. It is a system designed to increase streams and influence it into topping chats and making it go viral.
Top artises like Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, Asake, Olamide, QDot, Burna Boy and Wizkid, are some of the big names accused of using Streaming Farms to top chats and record unbelievable streaming figures for their songs. They reportedly use the system to fake and inflate streams on
platforms like Audiomack, Spotify, NotjustOK, Apple Music and other streaming platforms.
Music aficionado and disc jockey, Bobby Adewunmi, who was obviously miffed by what he called fraudulent activities of the music acts, said, “Sometimes, you wonder how these artistes are able to reach millions of streaming in a few days, after the release of a single.
“And you know, the more streams they achieve, the more money, they make. I’m not saying, all of the artistes are guilty of manipulating the streaming services, but I tell, it is not possible for some of those songs to reach those figures,” he stated.
He went on to lambast even the up and coming acts, who are less talented of using the streaming farms to get high streaming numbers, and of course, attracting the attentions of record labels.
Bobby said he believes, very soon, most of these perpetrators would be caught in the ignominious acts and disgraced.
