…Says Yoruba Movie Industry Is My Source
By Akeem Busari
One of the darlings of Nigerian movie lovers, Toyin Abraham has come out to confidently describe herself as one of the richest actresses in the Nollywood movie industry.
Toyin, who was a guest on Rubbin’ Minds, a Channels Television programme hosted by Ebuka Obi-Ochendu said, “I can’t speak for others. I can only speak for myself, because I am a goal-getter.”
“I started making good money in the entertainment industry about 5 years ago, when I started working with Film One. I remember when Mr. Moses Babatope called me and said, they have paid your money into your account. That’s the first time, I saw over N40m. I couldn’t sleep that day,” she remarked.
Renowned for her versatility that began several years ago in the Yoruba movie industry, Toyin, who changed her name from Toyin Aimakhu to Toyin Abraham in 2016, recalled that what was paid to actors in the Yoruba industry was peanuts, compared to what she earns today.
The 40 years old Edo State-born actress, however maintained that whatever are her achievements today in Nollywood, she can never leave the Yoruba movie industry, because it is her source in the business.
