Ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup slated to hold in Australia and New Zealand, the football world is excited, as the kick off gets nearer and participating teams, are equally stepping up their preparations.

And the Nigerian football community are also excited, as the Super Falcons received a glamorous farewell ceremony hosted by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator (Mrs). Oluremi Tinubu, last Saturday in Abuja.

Basking in the euphoria of the moment, Nigeria and Africa’s foremost football fans group, Nigeria Football Supporters Club(NFSC), have expressed their excitement on the participation of the record nine time AFCON Women Championship winners, Super Falcons at the World Cup.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos, National Chairman of NFSC, Ambassador (Rev). Samuel Ikpea, stated that the NFSC, have mobilised its members at home and in diaspora to storm Australia to support the team during the matches.

“This is a call to national service. And we’re ready and rearing to go. This is what we love doing and as the 12th player on and off the pitch, we’ll ensure our darling Super Falcons get massive support during and after their games in the world cup,” Ikpea remarked.

The highly regarded NFSC boss, thanked the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and the NFF, for hosting the girls, adding that it would serve as a morale booster to the team, even as they look forward to better their second round record in the championship.

“We say thank you to Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the encouragement given to the team, as well as, the Ibrahim Gusau led NFF, for organising the event.

“Yes, that event would serve as a morale booster to the team, even as, the NFSC shall also be present in large numbers to cheer our girls to do well during the championship,” Ikpea reassured.
