Olumo United has qualified for the knockout stage of this year’s Ogun State Football Association Pre-Season tournament.
The team defeated Mission Soccer FC, 3-0 courtesy of a first half brace by 14 years old Nimi Solanke, even as the sensational kid provided the assist for his side’s third goal in the second half.
Olumo United who would be playing in the NLO 1, are intensifying preparations ahead of the new league season. According to the President and founder of Olumo United, Segun Solanke, the team is expected to engage in other friendly games, as it looks forward to qualifying to the next ladder in Nigerian football.
Despite the very young age of Nimi Solanke, the team expects him to hit the double figures when the league starts.
“We’re not building the team around Nimi and of course, we’re not going to put too much pressures on his young shoulders.
“But I tell you, the young lad looks good to hit the double figures when the league starts. He’s brimming with confidence to explode and score lot of goals,” Solanke Snr, enthused.
