Nigeria 3X3 Men’s Basketball team comprising of Deola Folarin, Marcel Obinna, Kelvin Okundaye and Robert Ukawuba, shone brightly in far away Egypt, against all odds finished 2nd place and won the golden sliver at the just concluded Africa Senior Men’s 3X3 Cup championship. This is a historic first for Nigeria.

Speaking to journalists, Vice-Chairman of the 3X3 NBBF committe, Ugo Udezue, who championed and coordinated this outing with other members of the committe, said that the President Engr. Ahmadu Musa kida was a big inspiration to making this tournment a reality.

“We are grateful to the Ahmadu Musa Kida Foundation (AMK), who are the pioneer and proponents of 3×3 basketball in West Africa, for making it possible for the team to participate.”

“The enormous sacrifices of the players in securing their passage for this all important event, must also be commended.”

The NBBF Engr. Musa Kida who spoke to the players through Ugo Udezue, praised the players, who now ranks amongst the elite 3X3 players in the world, for representing  the country in Egypt in flying colors.

Equally, the Honorable Minister for Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, in a message, commended the African stars and their love to put on the green and white of the country, along with the NBBF for making Nigeria proud.

The latest feat by the NBBF has firmly etched its footprints in the 3×3 on the African map, as one of the teams to beat.

Nigeria may have secured a spot in the 3×3 world championship coming up next year.
