As part of the activities lined up for the celebration of the Y2024 Public Service Week, Lagos State AIDS Control Agency has organized a Free HIV Screening and Counselling service for public servants in the state.
The screening exercise which held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja had in attendance public servants across various Ministries department and agencies who benefited from the exercise.
The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro while inspecting the various Health screening points emphasized the commitment of the state government in the provisions of a sustainable healthcare delivery for it’s workforce as the state recognizes the significance of maintaining good health for a greater productivity.
Mr Agoro urged public officers to prioritize their health by taking advantage of the on going free health screening and also improve in their health seeking behavior so as to detected any health condition early enough to seek for a proper health care.
He assured that the government will continue to ensure a conducive and healthy working environment for public servants.While congratulating public servants on the successful celebration of the Y2024 Public Service Week, the Head of service commended public servants for an effective service delivery.
Speaking during a press interview at the event, Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State AIDS Control Agency, Dr Folakemi Animashaun stated that the Y2024 Public Service Week which is themed ” Fostering Innovation Amid Global Challenges: A Public Sector Perspective” is well thought out as the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency is currently exploring innovative policy making and implementation geared towards eradicating HIV/AIDS by the year 2030.
Dr Animashaun explained further that
the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has been instrumental in coordinating HIV/AIDS control programs in the state adding that the state has intensified efforts in upscaling its Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) Programs, Public Awareness and Sensitization programs, Free HIV Testing and Counseling, Community Outreach Programs,Youth-Focused Programs and has also invested in research and data collection for a better understanding of the trends and demographics of HIV/AIDS in the state.
Animashaun noted that the free HIV screening and Counselling service is one of the strategies deployed by the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency to reach members of the community adding that 675 Public Servants benefited from the free HIV Screening, HIV Counselling sections, as well as the distribution of free condoms and IEC materials to members of the public.
She however emphasized the state’s unwavering commitment to improving access to healthcare services highlighting the importance of increased awareness campaigns and the expansion of HIV testing and counseling centers across the state as the state is dedicated to curbing the spread of the virus and ensuring that all residents have access to the necessary resources for prevention, testing, and treatment.
